Feeding The Needy With Willing Hearts

A thanks to a radio station appearing at a food drive.
We're off to the nation of Singapore, one of those rising Asian nations experiencing an economic boom. But, sadly, even in countries where prosperity is at the forefront, there are people in need.

Welcome to the world of WILLING HEARTS, which has been serving poor and marginalized people in Singapore since 2005, when it was registered with the Singapore Ministry of Home Affairs. This organization is totally volunteer. On any one day, people who are elevator technicians, currency specialists, make-up artists, teachers, retirees, in other words from all walks of life, from different backgrounds and ethnicities, gather together early in the morning to make meals for 3000 people in need. This soup kitchen is the primary focus of activity for the organization.

But that's not all they do, either. They offer bereavement services, which help grieving family members with the details of arranging funeral services and burial of their deceased loved one, along with kind and understanding support. Then they also offer support for children who are struggling to learn, but whose families cannot afford the tuition services that would help them over this hurdle.

Besides helping with food preparation, volunteers also help with soliciting donations from individuals, charities, and food companies. There are also helpers needed for food packing and then distribution.

Check out the front page of the website. You can see there have been awards and recognition for all of the volunteer contributions to Willing Hearts, an announcement for the opening of a dental clinic, a kid's carnival for children of the families served, new distribution sites, and offering of meals to children at the local primary school. All to help people in need in Singapore.

Meals packed up and loaded onto a refrigerator truck, thanks to a donation.
