They're Totally In Love

The picture that became the subject of an internet storm.

Ashley Stevens and Christopher Reed are totally in love. They spend time with each other and have been dating for the past two and a half years. Like all couples in love, they have posted their share of silly pictures on facebook, showcasing their care-free nature and love of life.

So, recently, Ashley and Christopher were guests at her cousin's wedding, where Ashley got lucky and caught the bouquet. Then came a photo op where the couple put on goofy faces and posed with Ashley's father and the just-captured bouquet. Click, the photo was captured and then posted on facebook.



What came back was a flurry of posts from people hating on Christopher with cruel and inappropriate comments. A few of the comments went this way, "Is her boyfriend somewhere behind the fat...gentleman?" "That fatty should be jumping up and down that this girl is even with him let alone him possibly getting that much closer to marrying her." "Ya she looks way out of his league." And Ms. Stevens noted that, "People were asking if he has Down syndrome and said that he's too fat to be my boyfriend. That's just shallow." And these were the comments that weren't completely vulgar.

Really, internet users, is this necessary, kind, or caring? Would you have said any of this face-to-face with this wonderful couple - or to friends? Come on; where is your decency?

Obviously, Ashley and Christopher are in love and finding out that they may even be soul mates. They are decent to provide a kind response to their detractors. Actually, it was Ashley who wrote the post, "If you have seen the comments on our photo that went viral, they are pretty shallow and rude, I would advise you not to look at them. It surprises me how many people are so quick to judge when they don't even know you. Well let me just tell you, I won the jackpot with Christopher. He may not have rock hard abs like the world tells girls to want in a guy, but really, why does that even matter when you are trying to really find someone you want to spend the rest of your life with?"

Ashley goes on to list so many good qualities that Christopher has and that God answered her prayers when He brought the couple together. Then a final comment for the rude posters, "So as of us and those rude comments, we know the truth and we will block out the haters. enjoy our picture though. Lol - with Christopher Glenn Reed".

As for Christopher, he's pretty much let the whole thing roll off him, "I don't have time to worry about what other people say, because I know who I am and it doesn't bother me. After a while, it just got funny and we kind of shrugged it off. The couple have mutually decided to defer wedding plans until after they both finish college. And both have posted that they have forgiven their detractors. In a love that is meant to be, where beauty resides in the heart, as it should, that is love that is strong and will carry this couple together through their time on this earth. That is what is truly beautiful!
