You never know what you might spot when you ride the elevator to work. |
Of course, Mondays don't have to signal the start of the daily grind - and for many, it doesn't, since they work weekends or can't wait for the thrill of getting back to work. So, for those who have to face the music of starting the work week with much less enthusiasm, this is for you.
Do you remember back when the earthquake in Haiti happened in 2010? A group of friends - Jason, Eric, and Eddie - got together to raise money to help those affected. They performed on the street, but also videotaped their performance and placed it online, tagging it with Haitian earthquake relief. Their street effort fell short with funds collected, but the online effort raised $700.
That was the beginning of the JUBILEE PROJECT. The organization combines the skills of these three young men, the founders, in the furtherance of philanthropy and film-making. They were united by the belief that doing good is contagious. So, this group makes inspirational videos, works with various organizations that are doing good work, and relies on the larger community of its fans to spread the word.
So, what does any of this have to do with Monday morning? Well, on Monday morning, Lana McKissick and Nick Riedell, took the elevator in an office building in NYC. While on board, Nick whipped out his guitar and both he and Lana started serenading the office workers who got on the elevator with them. By the time they reached the riders' chosen floors, there were smiles all around and some riders even joined in with the singing.
