Homemade Coconut Oil Lip Balm

Homemade lip balm.
Sometimes when you're out shopping, you can get sticker shock. Or, you might even want to save a little cash on a product you use frequently, or you might even want to know that all of the ingredients are natural. Or, you might even like the notion of being able to make your own.

At any rate, you might welcome the knowledge that you can make your own lip balm, in this case one from coconut oil. First, you need:
* 2 tablespoons coconut oil
* 2 tablespoons beeswax
* 1/4 teaspoon honey
* 1/4 teaspoon vitamin E
* (optional) vanilla extract
* (optional) essential oil

First, grate the beeswax into a microwave-safe bowl and melt it down in the microwave. Then mix the coconut oil, honey, vitamin E, vanilla extract, and essential oil, with the melted beeswax. Then, microwave for 30 second intervals and stir until the entire mixture is melted.

Now, pour the mixture into small, shallow jars, preferably ones with lids, like the ones used for Burt's Bees eye cream. Let stand until mixture solidifies. Screw on the lid and you can take your lip balm with you. It's creamier than any lip balm or chap stick that you can get in the store.
