Commuter Bus Dog

Eclipse riding the bus between two other passengers.
If you happen to be in Seattle and happen to take a particular bus, you might actually see a black Labrador enter the bus, just like any other rider, and then grab a seat. She rides along past a few stops, then gets off at the park, the dog park.

The Lab, named Eclipse, lives with Jeff Young, whose habit it was to take Eclipse to the dog park on the bus. This one day, Jeff hadn't finished his cigarette when the bus stopped, and you're not allowed to smoke on the bus, so he planned to wait for the next bus. But Eclipse was in a hurry and got on the bus by herself. They caught up to each other at the dog park.

Well, now the bus rides have become a habit. Eclipse is now taking the bus by herself rather regularly. She's one passenger that is noticed by all the others. She brings smiles to everyone's face.

Miles Montgomery of radio station KISW has noticed the dog on his rides and says, "She was most concerned about seeing out the window, and I couldn't figure out what that was. It was really just about seeing where her stop was." Another commuter, Tiona Rainwater says, "All the bus drivers know her. She sits here just like a person does. She makes everybody happy. How could you not love this thing?"

Although it isn't necessarily recommended that everyone allow their pets to take the bus to the park, this dog and his person know what they're doing. They just might have the best day brightener anywhere - and possibly a mascot for Eclipse's bus route.
