A Real Starry Path

A section of the starry bike path.
There is this wonderful new bike path, opened on Nov. 12, located in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. As you ride, or walk along the path, there is a glow that emanates from the pebbles in the path that invites further exploration.

The path is the brainchild of DAAN ROOSEGARDE, who is known for his design work, that creates a sort of visual poetry, utilizing technology and space in an interaction with the viewer. The Eindhoven pathway connects two windmills depicted in paintings by Vincent Van Gogh, as part of the international year that focuses milestones of Van Gogh's career.

The path in Eindhoven is part of an even longer bike route from Van Gogh's homestead in Brabant all the way to Nuenen, where he painted his first masterpiece, a total of 208 miles. This route is divided into five pieces, each of which is short enough to be completed in one day.

Mr. Roosegaarde is known for his and his company's involvement in interactive projects, known as techno-poetry. The completion of the entire bike route is the kickoff event for the yearlong celebration of Van Gogh's inspiration, organized by the VAN GOGH EUROPE FOUNDATION.

Working on another project at Roosegarde Studios.
I thank this article for alerting me to this wonderful innovation: http://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/bike-path-inspired-van-goghs-starry-night-opens-netherlands/.
